Where possible we have linked to the paperback version of a book. If no link is available, the book is either out of print or is a tentative new title due to be released in the future.

This is fantastic, post-apocalyptic children’s fiction from a terrific Australian author. After a nuclear holocaust, all Misfits (mutants) are condemned to death or imprisoned in Obernewtyn, where they are likely to be the subject of ‘experimentation’. The story follows orphan Elspeth Gordie, who struggles to keep her ‘mutation’ a secret. Strong characters, suspenseful narrative and a convincing plot make this a must-read Australian children’s classic.
